Kooking with Katie

I can spell. I promise. But around my apartment, there's an exciting time, every once in awhile, called Kooking with Katie. Why not spell it correct, you may ask? Well, because it looks so much cooler and "legit" like this. Anyways, as I'm sure most know, I love to cook. And apparently some of my roommates like this as well. Which has implemented Kooking with Katie...So far, there has only been two sessions, but boy, it's been fun! Last Thursday was the first time..

I decided I want to make lasagne. Not just any lasagne, but the best lasagne ever. It's my mom's recipe. I'm definitely going to post it on my cooking blog sometime. My friend Cortney was over, and she said she doesn't like lasagne usually..but this was the exception. Kudos to you mom for having the best recipe ever! I have yet to find a restaurant to make one as good as hers :)

Anyways, Christie and Lindsay helped to make the garlic knots. (Okay, Lindsay just tied a couple of knots, but you know, it really helped out). Garlic Knots are, basically, the best side bread dish..oh EVER. They are so simple, but so delicious. I posted them on my recipe blog awhile back, if you want the recipe.

Honestly, have you ever seen so much enthusiasm with spraying a pan with cooking spray? I really don't think I have.

You know how those cans of pillsbury dough, and how you have to pull at just the exactly correct place to get it to open? Well this was one of those situations where that tab was not opened at the right place. I don't blame you Christie..It's happened to me plenty of times. This can would NOT open though! We had to resort to getting a knife to chop it open. Even with workers hands, she couldn't get it....hahaha just kidding Christie :)

Tying the knots. Precious.

I was so proud!!!
I credit Christie for making the knots turn out so delicious. She basically did everything! And they were pretty much a big hit for the night (they were gone within minutes...or so)

Dessert is the best part of any meal. There's really no question about that. So when I was contemplating what I should make, I came across this box of brownies that Cindy and AJ so kindly gave me last time I was visiting them. They looked kind of weird when they were done baking..I think I used too big of a pan, so I decided they needed frosting. I was too lazy to walk to the Creamery and get frosting, so I made some! It tasted good, but it looked weird on the brownies..and since presentation is like way important to me (haha yeah, I'm a nerd), I drizzled chocolate on top. FINALLY, they looked pretty incredibly delicious. Everyone that ate them apparently thought they were amazing...I thought they tasted just like normal brownies from a box..but hey, I didn't tell them I didn't make them homemade ;-)

Lasagne is one of those foods that you have to make for a crowd, not just for yourself. So, I invited Daniel, Jared, Cortney, Rachael, my roommates, Lindsay's friend Joe, and this guy Steve over for dinner (No, I don't like that Steve guy, him and Jared are like BFF or something and he wanted to see him...weird, i know..haha). it was really fun! This picture had to be posted, just because both Andrea and Jared's faces are priceless. I tend to be very good at capturing everyones true personalities on camera.

Daniel babysat Rachael when she was younger. This picture has been pinned the "babysitter" picture. The end.

Fun night! I love cooking! I love my friends! and I love...umm...pictures!! yay!

So it's 1:59...I think two blogs was enough for today (be sure to read the previous two blogs before this..they are both fairly new, and I'd hate for them not to get the attention they deserve)

So with that.

Until Next time.

Kookin With Katie is the best ever! Although, we have failed to have it a few times because stuff has come up, or the fact that you've got everything covered by time I finally get in the kitchen that I end up being useless...lame on my part. I'm excited for the next "K squared" though! haha

That was such a funny blog! Did you know that "kooking" is pronounced koo-king, like you're all kooky?!! Glad everyone liked the lasagna--and that is so funny about Daniel babysitting Rachael--I had forgotten about that!
