Last night was momentous for many reasons.
Last year, my roommates and I attend "The Event II", and it was an extremely epic night. So when I heard word of "The Event III" (really creative, right?), Christie and I decided it would be an excellent idea to go again. Last night I went with Christie, Kenz, Andrea, their roommate, Jaclyn, and Cortney.
Many exciting events went on. Although we were quite disappointed that there was no speed dating, there WAS a dating game, which was rather entertaining. Kenz was one of three girls eliminated on the first question because she said that designer clothes are a must, and he said he likes a girl who shops at a thrift store. I was eliminated right off the bat because one of my answers didn't match up with his. We won't talk about that answer. Christie lasted a bit longer, but alas, he liked someone who partied it up, and she chose studying. Good thing he wasn't that attractive.
We went to a dance. The other day for my Media Writing class, we had to ask three random people about what their biggest issues with BYU were. This random guy was like "The Dances. They reek more of Babylon than Zion." He should have been at this dance. I felt like I took a time machine back to a mixture of the 40's and a middle school "social", dropped right into a scene from The Singles Ward. It was really dumb, but I definitely showed off some of my awesome dance moves. I even got a couple of creepy grins from a creepy guy with a molest-auche. There was one slow song during the time we were there, and I'm pretty sure the only non-freshman guy asked me to dance. He went to Snow College though, so I doubt I'll be seeing him again.
Now on to the most exciting part of the night.
There was a Mario Kart Tournament. Obviously, that's my playing field. I eat, drink, and breath Mario Kart. Okay, I really don't, but I do love it. So of course, I had to play. We played, and I got a perfect score, which placed me in the finals. I know, I'm awesome. The finals were to be held at 11:30, so we went off and did other things for awhile.
After checking out giant twister and a random band, the time finally came.
Cortney and I headed to the Varsity Theater. It didn't dawn on me until then that it would be played on the movie screen in there. Um...Who wouldn't want to play Mario Kart on a giant screen.
I never do again.
There were about 20 people in the finals, and I was one of about four girls. The guy who was in charge made everyone clap for the girls because according to him, "there's nothing wrong with a girl who games." Okay, I don't "game". This is the only video game I like.
Anyways. I had to go sit up front, and there was a cute boy a few seats away from me. I kept kind of glancing over at him, semi-seducing him with my eyes. I practice quite often while sitting in the Wilkinson Center, it's not creepy, I swear. I thought he kept looking at me, but since that usually doesn't happen, so I ignored the thought. However, a few minutes later he turned towards me and asked me my name. We talked for a few minutes and then the tournament started, the lights were turned down, and we made out.
Okay not really. We just stopped talking and paid attention to the screen.
After the first race, it was my turn. I picked my usual combination of Princess Peach and the Mach bike and went up to play. It was terrible. I have never played so terrible in my life. I'm sure everyone was thinking "how the heck did she get in the finals." My friends were cheering me on the whole time, and then laughing when they saw how terrible I was. It was great. I blame it on the fact that I had to play in the bottom right hand corner, WHICH is the worst place to play, and the big screen was kind of distorting the screen. Yeah.
After I lose the race, my friends and I left, and this boy, Alex, was like "Good job Katie!" I was like...heh, thanks. And left. We went to go find Christie and Andrea, and I mentioned to McKenzie that I wish I had given him my number. She then suggested that I go back and give it to him. For some reason, when someone suggests something somewhat gutsy, I feel the need to do it. I.E. last year, Christie and Linds told me to call Christie's brother and tell him how much I liked him (yeah that's really about as daring as I get). So I did it. Anyways, so we go back to the Varsity Theater and sat somewhat near him. I wrote out a little note, and I was going to give it to him. However, a few minutes later, his friend and him stood up and left. I was sad but I wasn't about to chase him out. So McKenzie did. She didn't find him though, and we thought it was a lost cause. It was kind of a bummer, but I got over it. We went and met up with everyone else, and decided to leave. BUT then, Kenz was like "OH MY GOSH! There's that guy!" And she chases him down. And was like "Hey are you Alex!?" And he's like "Yes I am!". Then she's like "This is from my friend Katie. BYE!" and he smiled and she ran back to us.
It was great.
So even though I technically wasn't the one to give it to him, I was pretty proud of myself. Mainly because I don't really do things like giving my number out to random people. But I did. Now will he ever call? Not a chance. But it was exciting.
But if someday we got married, what an AWESOME pulpit story that be? Mario Kart on the Wii...The game of lovers.
And by the way, the winners of the contest got Mario Kart T-shirts. I was so sad. I wanted one so bad. So I decided to search for some online. For some reason, most of them are little boy sizes. Psh. Do they not think 20 year old girls play Mario Kart. However, I found some. I really want this first one. I mean, it's Princess Peach on the Mach Bike. That's me. So if you are feeling charitable, feel free to buy it for me, send me some money, or something like that. The second one will do as well.
Okay, I'm such a nerd. Don't judge me. They would be awesome sleeping shirts.

Mario Kart wins at life. I seriously love that game! You must get that shirt, it is too cute!
Oh Katie, your blog always makes me laugh. At least you did better than me - I played Guitar Hero with my date and got a grand score of ZERO. Fortunately he isn't very good at video games either. haha
Crap. I forgot what I was going to say....
Oh yeah, partying it up?!?!? Did the guy forget that he goes to BYU? That just sounds silly in regard to BYU
