Reasons #14124-14139 Why my life is going great

As this semester has started, everything has been going quite well. Even despite the fact that a guy in my ward came up with Hilary and I and welcomed us to the ward, even though we've been here for 4 months. And we've been in his class that he taught several times. I made sure he knew who I was after that, by volunteering to read everything. But anyways, just in case this period of pure happiness doesn't last, it'll probably be to my advantage to write about why life's just so dang great right now.

My Classes
I often tell people that if my grades were based off essays, I'd have a 4.0. Unfortunately, most of my classes have a huge chunk of the grade that come from tests. And tests aren't my strong point. Actually, I'd say that on a scale from 1-10 on how good of a test taker I am, I'd be about a -4. I tend to second guess myself a lot, and somehow all the information I somewhat obtained in the class just goes out of my mind. It's not great. Essays on the other hand? I'm a bomb.com essay writer. I don't think I've gotten less than an 90% on any essays last semester. One of my proudest moments was when I wrote an essay for my Marriage and Family class an hour before it was due because I forgot about it. My teacher told it was "perfect, wonderfully written paper". Well, my wish has come true about grades being based off of writing. Kind of. This semester almost all of my grades will be determined by writing. Even in my D&C class will I be required to journal about the readings, and turn it in. I'm so excited.

I guess the cat's out of the bag that I'm majoring in Print Journalism, and minoring in Editing. I guess it's not surprise. I have never been so excited for school in my life. I'm taking Principles of Journalism and Media Writing. I'm seriously so excited! I've been reading the syllabuses, and found all of the assignments to be super fun! My Principles of Journalism teacher is hilarious. I can tell it's gonna be a fun class. Mainly because one of our major assignments is to blog. Any class that requires blogging is pretty much my favorite. So I'll be starting a new blog, highlighting current topics in the world, journalism, etc. Follow it, put it on your google reader, place a link on your site. It's going to be exciting. You can see it here.  There aren't any posts yet, but there will be soon! These classes are seriously making me so excited for this major. I even bought one of the not-required books for my Principles class. Just because it seemed so cool.

And my Print Publishing class that I'm taking for my editing minor? COOLEST CLASS EVER! I mean, a good part of the semester is teaching you how to use photoshop! The assignments we have our so cool. One of them is to have at least 20 pages of typed text, edit it, and make it into a book. He suggested that if we had a personal blog, we pick our favorite posts and use them. I get to make a blog book in my class.  When I introduced myself, I said some witty comment, and everyone laughed. It was awesome. And we use these sweet mac computers. Despite the fact that I have a prejudice against Apple, I really do like Mac computers. Don't tell my HP though. I still love you.

This picture represents two awesome things. 1) The Bachelor has begun and 2) We have a sweet new tv. Now, if you remember, I really don't like TV or movies, so you may be wondering why I'm so excited about this TV. Pretty much, mainly because it's 57 inches, it was 25$, and it has this sweet split screen function where you can watch two things at once. It's pretty. And I'm pretty sure we might have friends now. I mean, if my charming personality and good looks hasn't lured anyone in, this tv has got too. And one of the shows I do enjoy watching has just begun, and I sure do love seeing the beautiful face of Jake the Pilot, supersized on the screen. He was my favorite guy in the Bachelorette, and I'm so happy he gets to be on it this season! Even if it is with a bunch of sleezy girls throwing themselves at him....

If you haven't had Tacos al Pastor, I recommend you find the nearest place and try them. I seriously love these so much. I had them for the first time in Mexico this past summer, and I was thrilled to find out that Provo had two places that sold them. I went to Pasterero Taco Grill several times last semester, and I have yet to try Chungas, but I love Pasterero! The owner is SO nice, and the food is so good. I was trying to resist going on getting myself some of things, but I just had to try them. I won't be getting them for awhile, as I have no money, but it was a nice treat.

Beautiful Kacianna is now here! I love my nieces and nephews :)
I was lucky enough to have my books cost under 125 dollars this year. Awesome, right? Well, today I received the good news that I won't be having to buy one of this little gadgets. Apparently the booklist website messed up, and despite the fact that it says I need one of these for my physical science class, I don't! There's 25$ I can put towards me actually being able to buy groceries! And along the same lines, I was able to sell my books from last semester and make enough to buy all my text books from the profit. Let me tell you, that was wonderful.

Need I say more?

My new years goal of going to the gym every day (but Sunday), has been completed so far. Two days in a row baby. And I've been pretty rockstar at running, I'm just saying. I'll credit my sweet running shoes my daddy bought me for Christmas. Thanks Dad!

Day 5 of No Sweets January is almost complete. And funny thing is, I don't even miss them. And let me just say, I have been tempted. Kristian made some fudge for our apartment the other day, and I was so sad I couldn't have any. But I held strong, and was proud of myself. Oh, how I'm hoping the results will be worth it.

How have I lived so long without one of these? My mom and dad got me a Sonicare tooth brush for Christmas, and I'm obsessed with it. Not even kidding. I'm overly obsessive about brushing my teeth, and this just makes the experience even better. You get that after dentist feeling every time you brush (I feel like that was said on a commercial)

I've felt particularly close to the Spirit lately, and feel like I'm on a total spiritual high. I love it! :)

Oh and the BYUSA blog I'm heading up starts soon. I'm so excited! You'll be able to read the excitingness that is sure to come here. And once again, if you want to write for it, let me know!

This cute boy sat next to me in Comms 101. He was a stud and a half. And guess what he looked like? Yep. Tall, skinny, brown haired, and green eyed. I swear, I can't escape it. They just flock to me!

I have awesome friends and an even better family. 'Nuff said.

I'm just happy. Which is saying something, since I'm at work right now, and I'll be on campus from 8 am to 10 PM tomorrow.  What a great start to 2010

Someone suggested to me that I should set up a "Pay for Katie to live" sort of fund. Would anyone like to contribute? You know you do. And I'd really rather not start selling body fluids to get money. I like my Plasma. Actually, I'm not too attached to it (hahahaha).

PS. If you feel the need to read my blog in another language, I have a google translator thing on the left side of the page that'll translate my blog into different languages. Awesome, right?

I wish I had the will power to go to the gym every day and give up sweets. You go girl!

I actually finished all the classes but the last one for the editing minor.... It was what made me realize that I couldn't be an editor without killing myself after a while. Some of the classes are a lot of fun though! (Not the last one. I couldn't do it.)

I usually think, What Would Jack Do?, before making any major life decisions.

I can't believe you really got that much money from selling your books back! I spent $350 on books last semester and guess how much I got back.....17 bucks. Maybe I'll donate it to the Pay-for-Katie-to-live fund, not that it would help much. :)

uh I don't even know where to start this post was awesome haha! First of all how did you or someone get a 57" tv for $25??? I love that bachelor has started (although i've had really bad back pains lately so I spent most of the show falling asleep off & on while Chase cooked me dinner & was cheezed out by the show). Sounds like life is going good! Good luck with your semester & your major sounds awesome! HAPPY 2010! No gym boy update?

I just loved reading this post! It is so good to see you so happy =) I'm still with you on the no sweets thing! I am doing good, and don't really miss them much either! I'm totally jealous of your toothbrush, and your t.v and that you've gotten to see Kacianna! I can't wait to see you when I come out next week! Love you =)
