Conference!

Can I just say how much I loved conference?! Over the past few years I have come to love conference so much, and I can honestly say it's my favorite two weekends of the year. I remember how much I disliked going when I was younger, because it was soooooo long and sooooo boring. I started enjoying it more when I started to draw pictures of the speakers, and eventually I started listening and jotting down notes. Now, I get so excited for conference and have my journal and pen ready to jot down all the gems which the speakers always say. I was thinking, do you think that all the speakers feel a lot of pressure to come up with some witty or memorable saying that will be put on those little brick engraved plaques everyone has in their houses til the end of time? Or that will be inevietably quoted by speakers, teachers, and other apostles and future prophets? I think so. I don't think I could ever think of some of the cool things I've heard. Therefore, that is why you will never see me up there speaking. haha. Anyways, I felt that there were a lot of great messages conveyed during the two days. I really noticed an emphasis on temples, relying on God, and not giving into self-destructing thoughts/behavior. I really loved the talk on Provident Living from the Saturday Morning session. Ooh and the one on not being a missing in action shephard. I really liked how he said that as members we need to do the finding so missionaries can spend more time teaching. I went through my notes and then wrote down in my journal all of my favorite quotes. Although I won't write out all of them, here are a few of my top ones:

"I'm a nobody and you're a nobody and if you ever forget it, the Lord will remind you and it won't be pleasant." I think this was Elder Andersen..But correct me if I'm wrong

"You cannot google search testimony. You cannot text message faith." Elder Ballard. Love this one, especially because I totally rely on google to answer all my questions. It was a good reminder to look towards the scripture and prayer for the answers to lives most important questions.

"The future is as bright as your faith."-President Monson. At first I thought he said ". . . as your face." And I was like, well that's weird. It made more sense when I realized he said faith.

"You don't have to spend time as a Laman or Lemuel to be a Nephi or Jacob." Elder Ballard

"Adversity is proof of God's love." President Eyring

"You are never lost when you can see the temple." Elder Stevenson

"We don't acquire eternal life in a sprint; it's a race of endurance." President Uchtdorf

I don't remember who did it, but they quoted something from Elder Wirthlin. I don't remember the exact quote from the talk the guy quoted, but I found the talk and read it. I definitely recommend reading it. My favorite part is when he said:
"Oh, it is wonderful to know that our Heavenly Father loves us—even with all our flaws! His love is such that even should we give up on ourselves, He never will.

We see ourselves in terms of yesterday and today. Our Heavenly Father sees us in terms of forever. Although we might settle for less, Heavenly Father won’t, for He sees us as the glorious beings we are capable of becoming."
(the part that was in the talk in conference was "His love is such that even should we give up on ourselves, He never will." Love it).

And...I'm done.

A few other random things:

~12 days til I go home. Can I tell you just how excited I am?!
~Some guy just came into the clinic and was like "It's 9:10 AM and you have a huge smile on your face. I love it." Made my day. It makes me want to smile all the time!
~Since March 25th, 2009, I have written in my journal 8 times! This is a big deal, because I usually write once a year. I bought a sweet journal from the Bookstore, and it's inspired me to write more.
~This is my last week of classes. Yay!!
~I love my nalgene water bottle. Especially because it's BYU-esque.
~Even though the Creamery food is way unhealthy, I love it. I mean, this month's special is this grilled chicken sandwich with sweet and sour sauce, onion rings, and bacon. What more could you ask for?
~I hate packing. I tried to start yesterday and I didn't know where to start. I don't have my sisters to do it for me...I mean help me...like last time! eek!
