Go Green? I think I'll pass

Alright, I know that its good to care about the earth and what not,but I think that this whole "Go green" thing is getting a bit ridiculous. I feel like every store I go into, every channel I watch, and every newspaper I read has something to do with becoming eco friendly. I think that there are television channels that are claiming that their station has "gone green." How do they even go green? Make all the actors on their television shows drink out of biodegradable cups? My high school was overrun by kids who thought of themselves as hippies and felt the need to make sure everyone knew how horrible we were for not recycling and using hairspray, and not devoting all of our efforts in life towards making the world cleaner. And this whole global warming thing...I believe in the 1970's there was speculation that the world would be going into a "potential ice age"...has the weather changed THAT much in the past 40 years to say that global warming is a real danger? Don't get me wrong, I'm not out there litering and making an effort to polute the world, but I'm getting tired of all these tree hugging, environmentalist people! (No offence if one of you are reading this!). Today we were at target and while browsing through some aisles my mom exclaimed, "Katie, I found the perfect shirt for you!" So I go over and see what she found, and it was a shirt that exclaimed "Go Green!" I was not amused. However, the icing on the cake, and the main cause for this rant of mine, is a sign my mom and I saw the other day. We were at this new store, the sunflower market, and upon arriving and trying to find a parking spot, and since it was raining, we were elated to find a parking spot fairly close to the door. However, right before pulling in, we saw this sign:
Since when has having an 'eco friendly vehicle' been reason enough to be able to park in a spot that is just as good as a handicap spot? What's next? Special parking permits that you have to have in order to park in these places? My mom said she wishes she decided to just park in this spot...just in spite of the sign, but alas, we did not. I say we all go buy big diesel trucks instead of those honda prius...just in spite of this sign :-) (well, those of us who have lots of money to spend on a new car, plus the gas that those diesel trucks seem to like..haha)

That sign certainly was a sign of the times, wasn't it! The parking lot there is really a mess anyway, I think that's what made it worse!
